RESCUE MISSION UNDERWAY IN GENERAL AREA CHIRADDIKULAM (GSQ 4125) DUE TO FLOODING

Under the guidance of the 56 Infantry Division Commander, Major General S A U A Solangaarachchi RSP ndc psc, and the close supervision of the 561 Infantry Brigade Commander, Colonel E G C Gunasena RWP RSP psc, troops have launched an ongoing rescue mission in the Chiraddikulam area following severe flooding.

A combined rescue operation was initiated with the support of 10 SLLI troops and the Sri Lanka Navy (SLNS Buwaneka).

A total of 04 × 25 troops from 10 SLLI and 04 Navy personnel have been deployed.So far, 29 civilians have been rescued, while several more remain stranded in the Chiraddikulam area (GSQ 4125). The rescue efforts are still ongoing.

The rescue operation commenced on 29 November 2025, with 40 affected families reported. The total number of individuals affected is yet to be confirmed.
