A fire broke out on 25 November 2025 at the Singer Sri Lanka PLC showroom located along the Vavuniya–Horowpothana Road, within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of the 7th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (7 SLSR), under the 563 Infantry Brigade of the 56 Infantry Division.
Upon receiving the emergency alert, a well-coordinated fire suppression operation was promptly launched under the direction of the General Officer Commanding, 56 Infantry Division, and the guidance of the Commander, 563 Infantry Brigade. played a vital role by coordinating closely with battalion troops throughout the mission.
The operation involved the combined efforts of several agencies, including the Sri Lanka Air Force Fire Mitigation Unit (Vavuniya), the Vavuniya Municipal Council Fire Response Unit, volunteer civilians, and troops of the 7 SLSR. The Battalion deployed 02 officers and 25 NCOs, including the Commanding Officer, to actively support the firefighting efforts.
Water tankers and bowsers from the 56 Infantry Division and 563 Infantry Brigade were mobilized to reinforce the suppression activities. Owing to the synchronized and effective collaboration among military, municipal, and civilian teams, the fire was contained before it could spread to nearby establishments.
All showroom staff were safely evacuated, and no civilian injuries or casualties were reported. The fire was successfully extinguished within two and a half hours.
