Major General T N K Perera officially assumed duties as the General Officer Commanding of the 21 Infantry Division on 21 November 2025, during a ceremony held at the Division Headquarters, which featured traditional religious blessings and military formalities.
Upon his arrival, the newly appointed GOC was warmly received by the Staff Officers and honoured with a Guard Turnout presented by troops of 2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. This was followed by a ceremonial Guard of Honour, marking the formal welcome to his new command.
Afterwards, Major General Perera posed for a group photograph with all officers of the Division. Religious observances were then conducted under the guidance of the Maha Sangha, led by the Chief Incumbent of Ruwanweliseya Chethiyarama, Ven. Ethalaweṭunuwawe Ghanatilaka Thero, invoking blessings for his new appointment.
To signify the official assumption of duties, Major General Perera ceremonially signed the official document in his office. Following this, he addressed the gathering, sharing his vision and expectations for the future development of the Division.
The day’s proceedings concluded with an All-Ranks tea, providing an opportunity for officers and troops to extend their congratulations and best wishes.
Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 21 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks were present to mark this significant occasion.
