Due to prevailing adverse weather conditions, Veherathenna causeway bridge inundated by approximately 6 ft water level on 19th January 2025. Troops of 5 (V) Gajaba Regiment were provided assistance to the Sri Lanka Navy to provide transportation facilities to the villagers along the Veherathenna bridge. This was done under the supervision of Brigadier T D P Siriwardena psc, Commander, 211 Infantry Brigade.
