PROVIDING DRY RATION PACKETS FOR FLOOD-AFFECTED FAMILIES IN NADDAKANDAL AREA

On 14 th December 2024 a significant community outreach program was conducted in the Naddakandal area which falls within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of the 10th Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment (SLLI). In response to the heavy rains that caused severe flooding and disrupted the livelihoods of many families, dry ration packets were distributed to 60 flood-affected families at the Naddakandal school.

This humanitarian initiative was carried out under the concept of Major General J P C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, Commander Security Force (Wanni) and with the guidance of Major General KND Karunapala RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 56 Infantry Division whose leadership emphasizes providing timely assistance to communities in distress. The program was executed under the supervision of Brigadier BD Fernando USP Hdmc psc, Commander 561 Infantry Brigade and with the assistance of Lieutenant Colonel KAK Hewapathage RWP RSP USP, Commanding Officer of the 10th Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment.

The donation was made by MBA-8 programme students of Esoft, a socially responsible organization that partnered with the Sri Lanka Army to provide relief to the affected families. Their generous contribution ensured the delivery of essential supplies to those in need.
