“මාතෘ අභිමන” Community Support Programme by 8 Field Engineer Regiment

In celebration of its 29th Anniversary, the 8 Field Engineer Regiment of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE), functioning under the Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), successfully conducted the “මාතෘ අභිමන” Seva Vanitha Community Support and Development Programme on 08 October 2025 at the Battalion Headquarters, Boo Oya, Vavuniya.

This initiative, organized in collaboration with Forever Skin Natural (Pvt) Ltd, aimed to support and empower 150 pregnant mothers in the region by enhancing their knowledge and awareness of maternal health, nutrition, and psychological well-being.

The event was graced by Miss Chandani Bandara, Chairperson and Founder of Chandani Bandara Group of Companies, who attended as the Chief Guest. Miss Nadeeshani Hidallaarachchi and Miss Nayomi Fernando represented the Corps of Engineers Seva Vanitha Branch, while the MOH Office, Madawachchiya contributed with a series of professional lectures and awareness sessions on maternal care.

All participating mothers received maternity gift packs and enjoyed a nutritious meal, making the event both informative and heartwarming. The success of this programme was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Forever Skin Natural (Pvt) Ltd and the dedicated efforts of Lt Col Asanka Hidallaarachchi, Commanding Officer of 8 SLE, together with all officers and other ranks of the regiment.

The “මාතෘ අභිමන” programme stands as a commendable community outreach initiative under the Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), symbolizing the Sri Lanka Army’s unwavering commitment to promoting the welfare and well-being of local communities.
