WANNI TROOPS SALUTE COMMADER DURING HIS MAIDEN VISIT

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG Commander of the Army, visited the Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) on 08 February 2025. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Major General J.P.C. Peiris RWP RSP ndc, Commander of Security Forces (Wanni), and received a formal Guard Turnout. He honoured fallen war heroes by laying a floral wreath at their monument and participated in group photographs.

During the visit, the Commander of the Army attended a briefing on current operations and initiatives in the area. In his address to the troops, he emphasized unity, discipline, and continuous development within the Armed Forces.

The visit included the presentation of commemorative plaques between the Army Chief and the Commander of Security Forces (Wanni). A significant event was the handing over of keys to a newly renovated house to Mr. S.D. Suresh Kumara and his family in Atambagaskada, Vavuniya. This project was funded by Sudharmaramaya Maha Viharaya and executed by the Corps of Engineer Services under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces (Wanni).

Further, Commander of the Army also visited Sudharmaramaya Maha Viharaya and Madukanda Sri Dalada Viharaya, meeting with their respective Chief Incumbents to receive blessings. Later, Commander of the Army attended an All Ranks lunch at “Mawadana Geya” and visited the Officers Mess, addressed the Officers. This was followed by signed the visitors’ book to mark the occasion of official visit to Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni).
