Due to prevailing adverse weather conditions,overflow point of the of the Thenniyankulam Tank Bund was slightlydamaged. This timely vital community project was carried out with active collaboration with local civilians and government authorities. Troops of the 10th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry (10 SLLI),have successfully repaired with the close supervision of the Commanding Officer of 10 SLLI, Lieutenant Colonel K A K Hewapathage RWP RSP USP, under the guidance of Commander 561 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier B D Fernando USP Hdmcpsc, andthe instructions of the General Officer Commanding 56 Infantry Division, Major General K N D Karunapala RSP ndc On 19th January 2025.
A dedicated team of 10 SLLI, comprising 3 officer and 30 soldiers were mobilized to undertake the repairwith the active support of the respective government officials and nearly 100 local civilians, demonstrating a strong sense of community partnership and resilience.
The successful completion of this project further underscores the importance of collaboration between the military, government authorities and local communities in fostering sustainable development. This accomplishment is yet another testament to the Army's unwavering dedication to serving the nation beyond its traditional military roles.
