A newly constructed toilet facility was ceremonially handed over to Puliyankulam Hindu Vidyalaya on 02 February 2026, enhancing the welfare and learning environment of school children within the area of responsibility of the 561 Infantry Brigade.
The project was generously funded by Mr. Shantha Dalugamage of the Mission Lanka Foundation and was implemented under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 56 Infantry Division, with the full supervision and direction of the Commander, 561 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier E G C Gunasena RWP RSP psc. Construction work was carried out under the close supervision of the Commanding Officer and all ranks of the 16 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, reflecting the Sri Lanka Army’s strong commitment to community welfare and civil–military cooperation.
Constructed at a cost of Sri Lankan Rupees One Million, the facility is designed to provide students with safe, hygienic, and dignified sanitation facilities, thereby contributing to a healthier, safer, and more conducive learning environment, particularly for students facing various socio-economic challenges.
This initiative highlights the Sri Lanka Army’s continued dedication to nation-building efforts beyond its core security responsibilities, while strengthening partnerships with philanthropic organizations and supporting the holistic physical and mental well-being of future generations.
