SCHOOL ACCESSORIES DONATION PROGRAM CONDUCTED BY 543 INFANTRY BRIGADE IN MANNAR

Continuing its efforts to uplift education and enhance the welfare of underprivileged children in the Mannar District, troops of the 543 Infantry Brigade conducted a school accessories donation programme for 142 low-income students on 22 December 2025 at the Mannar Cultural Hall.

The event was held under the guidance of Major General A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding of the 54 Infantry Division, and was executed under the supervision of Colonel A H R Hasantha RSP psc, Commander of the 543 Infantry Brigade. The programme was organized with the support of the 4th Battalion, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, with the objective of supporting children from underprivileged families and promoting education within the district.

The donation of school accessories was generously sponsored by Consultant Physician Dr. Jinanjala Shanika Wijayagunasekera and her daughter, Dr. Tharushi Dilhara Perera, and the items were distributed among the selected students during the programme.

This welfare initiative reflects the continued commitment of the Sri Lanka Army to uplifting the lives of civilians, strengthening civil–military cooperation, and contributing meaningfully to the social and educational development of the Mannar District.
