NEW YEAR RECEPTION AND OFFICERS’ GET TOGETHER HOSTED BY SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (WANNI)

Under the guidance of the Commander Security Force (Wanni), Major General K M P S B Kulathunga RSP ndc psc and with the supervision of Brigadier K T R B Kodippli psc Brigadier General Staff Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), a New Year Officers’ Get Together was successfully held on 04 January 2026 at the Officers’ Mess, Security Force Headquarters Wanni.

The event was graced by the presence of the Commander, Security Force Wanni, along with Divisional Commanders, Brigade Commanders, Battalion Commanders, and Staff Officers representing SFHQ Wanni, Divisions, and Brigades within the Security Force Wanni area of responsibility.

The primary objective of the event was to appreciate and recognize the dedicated efforts of officers who rendered commendable service during the Ditwah Cyclone, which included humanitarian and community-oriented activities such as rescue operations, provision of food assistance, cleaning and restoration of temples and schools, rehabilitation of wells, and renovation of tank bunds. These initiatives significantly contributed to strengthening civil-military cooperation and uplifting community welfare within the Area of Responsibility and mark the commencement of the New Year while fostering esprit de corps, camaraderie, and professional cohesion among officers. The gathering provided an opportunity to strengthen interpersonal relations and reinforce collective commitment towards the effective discharge of duties entrusted to the command.

The occasion further underscored the importance of unity, leadership, and cooperation in maintaining operational readiness and upholding the highest standards of military professionalism. Such interactions contribute significantly to enhancing morale and cohesion across all levels of command.

The New Year Officers’ Get-Together concluded in a dignified and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the strong professional bonds among officers and setting a positive foundation for the year ahead in the continued service of the Security Force Wanni.
