Under the guidance and direction of the General Officer Commanding of the 54 Infantry Division, Major General A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc, and in conjunction with the celebrations of the 78th National Independence Day, a medical camp was conducted for school children and teaching staff on 03.02.2026 from 0830 hours to 1500 hours at MN/Kattadampan Roman Catholic Tamil Maha Vidyalaya, located within the Area of Responsibility of the 4th Gajaba Regiment, under the 542 Infantry Brigade.
This medical camp was organized under the leadership of the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Office, Madhu. During the programme, 235 students from MN/Kattadampan Roman Catholic Tamil Maha Vidyalaya and MN/Madhu Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya received dental health awareness and dental examinations. In addition, 16 members of the teaching staff underwent blood pressure screening, and those identified as being at risk were referred to hospital clinics for further treatment. The dental clinic was conducted by the Mannar Regional Health Services Office, while the medical clinic was conducted by the Pandivirichchan Regional Hospital.
This programme was carried out under the supervision and guidance of the Commander of the 542 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier A R W C Asurasinghe RWP RSP USP. All organizational activities were conducted by the Commanding Officer of the 4th Gajaba Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel M S S Pranandu USP psc, together with officers and other ranks. Coordination of the programme was undertaken by the Civil Affairs Officer of the 542 Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel W A N D Jayasundara.
