Major General M W S Millagala RWP RSP USP Hdmc psc Assumes Duties as the General Officer Commanding 59 Infantry Division

The newly appointed General Officer Commanding of the 59 Infantry Division, Major General M W S Millagala RWP RSP USP Hdmc psc, officially assumed duties on 21 October 2025 at the Division Headquarters in Mullaitivu.

The day’s proceedings commenced with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by the troops of the 10 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and the 5 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), symbolizing the warm welcome and deep respect extended to the new General Officer Commanding.

Thereafter,Major General M W S Millagala formally assumed duties amidst religious observances, invoking blessings for success in his new appointment.

Following the assumption of duties, the General Officer Commanding addressed all ranks, emphasizing the importance of discipline, professionalism, and teamwork in achieving the Division’s operational and administrative goals. Subsequently, he addressed the officers separately, outlining his vision, strategic priorities, and expectations for the future.

Concluding the day’s programme, Major General Millagala conducted an inspection visit around the camp premises, interacting with officers and soldiers to gain a first-hand understanding of current activities and ongoing requirements.

The event was graced by Brigade Commanders, Division Staff Officers, and Commanding Officers, along with under command troops, marking a significant occasion as the 59 Infantry Division embarks on a new chapter under its new leadership.
