GOC 56 INFANTRY DIVISION CONDUCTS FORMAL VISITS TO 562 INFANTRY BRIGADE AND UNDER-COMMAND BATTALIONS

Major General S A U A Solangaarachchi RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding 56 Infantry Division, conducted his inaugural official visit to the 562 Infantry Brigade, 17 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry, the previous IBTS (Pampaimadu), and the 12 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. He was warmly welcomed by the Brigade Commander and the respective Commanding Officers, after which he carried out detailed inspections of administrative functions, operational preparedness, and welfare facilities. In support of the Clean Sri Lanka initiative, and to commemorate his visit, the GOC planted saplings at each headquarters.

During his engagements, the Major General Anuruddha Solangaarachchi addressed troops of all battalions, emphasizing discipline, teamwork and professionalism as essential pillars of the Division. He commended officers and soldiers for maintaining high standards despite operational challenges and encouraged continued commitment to national security duties, capacity development and civil–military cooperation.

The programme was attended by Brigadier DMPU Dissanayake RSP USP IG, Commander 562 Infantry Brigade, Colonel LAPMK Liyanarachchi (Col GS), the Col Volunteer Coord, Civil Affairs Officer, and Commanding Officers of all battalions and troops of the 562 Infantry Brigade. Their presence reinforced the collective leadership effort towards strengthening divisional efficiency and ensuring mission readiness across all formations.
