In response to the recent flood disaster that affected several areas of Mullaitivu District, a dry ration relief distribution programme was successfully conducted to support 100 selected needy families in the most affected areas. The relief programme was organized by 591 Infantry Brigade in collaboration with 12 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops, as part of ongoing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts.
The programme was sponsored by Venerable Atambagaskada sri kalyana thissa abidana Maha Nayaka Thero, with the generous support of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy, reflecting the continued commitment of religious institutions toward national humanitarian causes.
This initiative was carried out under the guidance and direction of Security Forces Headquarters – Wanni and 59 Infantry Division, ensuring effective coordination and timely assistance to the affected communities. The event was graced by the presence of the Government Agent (GA) of Mullaitivu District, the Commander of 591 Infantry Brigade, along with senior officers from 59 Infantry Division, highlighting strong civil–military cooperation in disaster response operations.
The Sri Lanka Army remains steadfast in its commitment to assisting the civilian population during times of need and continues to play a vital role in post-disaster relief, recovery, and community support initiatives across the region.
