Under the direction of the General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division Major General A M C P Wijayaratne RWP RSP nps psc and the guidance of the Commander 541 Infantry Brigade Brigadier I P Jayasinghe RWP, all Officers and Other ranks of the 10 (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch organized a programme to distribute essential school items to 29 students of Mannar/Palakkuli Roman Catholic Tamil School.
These students come from low-income families residing within the battalion's area of responsibility. The event was held on 11 April 2025 at the battalion's lecture hall, with the aim of supporting the students' continued educational development.
Each student received a school supply pack valued at over Rs. 11,000,00 which included a school bag and exercise books. The material support for these items was generously provided by Venerable Mapakada Pannasara Thero of the Malwathu Chapter, Mrs. Chameela Priyadarshani, and Mr. Wathsala Karunatilaka from the Colombo area.
The Commander of the 541 Infantry Brigade Brigadier I P Jayasinghe RWP attended the event as the Chief Guest. Senior officers, officers, other ranks of the unit, the school principal and staff, students, and their parents also took part in the event.
