COMMANDER, SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (WANNI), COMMENDS TROOPS FOR EXEMPLARY SERVICE DURING CYCLONE DITVA RESPONSE

The severe impact of Cyclone Ditva caused widespread loss of life and extensive damage to property across the island, imposing significant hardship on affected communities. In response to the disaster, the Sri Lanka Army extended steadfast support through well-coordinated rescue, relief, and reconstruction operations, earning widespread appreciation from the public.

In recognition of these efforts, the Commander, Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, commended the exemplary dedication, selfless sacrifice, and high level of professionalism demonstrated by Army personnel and civil staff in providing assistance to the civilian population during and in the aftermath of the calamity.

Accordingly, Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc visited the 21 Infantry Division on 24 December 2025. Upon arrival, he was warmly received by Major General T N K Perera, General Officer Commanding, 21 Infantry Division. Addressing the gathering, the Commander expressed his sincere appreciation to all ranks and civil employees for their tireless service, emphasizing that their unwavering commitment played a vital role in restoring normalcy and supporting the national recovery process.

A formal tea reception was held in honour of the visiting Commander, with the participation of Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, and all ranks. The event was attended by approximately 37 officers, over 145 troops, and civil staff. During the occasion, the Commander personally commended all personnel for their collective efforts, reaffirming the Sri Lanka Army’s enduring commitment to safeguarding the nation and standing shoulder to shoulder with the people during times of crisis.

The visit served as a significant morale booster for the troops, further strengthening the determination, unity, and esprit de corps of all ranks of the 21 Infantry Division.
