Colonel H M J W Bandara RSP USP nps psc officially assumed duties as the 12th commander of the 591 Infantry Brigade on 08 January 2026 at the 591 Infantry Brigade headquarters in Mullathive. Upon his arrival, the senior officer was accorded a Guard Turnout along with other customary military formalities.

Following the formalities, Colonel H M J W Bandara RSP USP nps psc planted a sapling to mark the occasion and later addressed the troops, highlighting his vision and expectations for the brigade under his command.
