563 Infantry Brigade Facilitates School Items Distribution and Wheelchair Donation at Kokeliya Primary School

Reaffirming its commitment to community welfare and civil-military cooperation, the 563 Infantry Brigade of the Sri Lanka Army organized a combined humanitarian programme at Kokeliya Primary School on 29 July 2025. The initiative, conducted included the distribution of stationery items for school children and the donation of a wheelchair to a differently-abled individual. The programme was held under the guidance of the Commander, 563 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier P A Nandathilaka RSP USP, and the supervision of the Commanding Officer, 7 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (7 SLSR). Financial sponsorship was generously extended by Mrs. M L Y Chandarani Liyanage and her family.

Although the school comprises a small number of students, the event was rich in impact. Ten children received essential educational materials, while several entertainment activities were organized to engage and inspire the students. A lunch was also arranged for the children, teaching staff, and school personnel, creating an inclusive and uplifting environment for all participants.

The programme was attended by Coordinating Officer of 56 Infantry Division; the Civil Affairs Officer of 563 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer of 7 SLSR; the donor and her family; and 19 troops of 7 SLSR. The active presence of the school’s principal, teachers, and students further enhanced the value of the occasion. The initiative reflects the Sri Lanka Army’s continued dedication to nation-building, social responsibility, and fostering strong ties with local communities through impactful civil affairs programmes.
