563 Infantry Brigade Conducts Stationery Distribution Programme For Munnimuruppu School Children

In a continued effort to strengthen civil-military cooperation and uplift the educational standards of underprivileged communities, the 563 Infantry Brigade of the Sri Lanka Army organized a school stationery distribution programme for the students of Munnimuruppu Vidyalaya on 26 July 2025.

This community welfare initiative was conducted under the visionary guidance and direction of the Commander, 563 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier P A Nandathilaka RSP USP, and was meticulously coordinated under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of the 7th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (7 SLSR), Lieutenant Colonel M K D P P K Kankanige RWP RSP USP psc. The programme was made possible through the generous financial sponsorship of Mr. E.K. Kumara and his family.

The event commenced at 0830 hrs and continued until 1030 hrs, during which essential school stationery items were distributed to 85 students of Munnimuruppu Vidyalaya. The programme also included several entertainment activities to uplift the spirits of the children, followed by a tea party organized for the students and school staff, fostering a warm and joyful atmosphere.

The event was graced by the presence of Brigadier P A Nandathilaka RSP USP; Lieutenant Colonel D R Tharukarathne (Civil Affairs Officer, 563 Infantry Brigade), Lieutenant Colonel M K D P P K Kankanige RWP RSP USP psc (Commanding Officer, 7 SLSR), Mr. E.K. Kumara and his family, along with 18 troops (03 x 15) from 7 SLSR. The active participation of the principal, teaching staff, and all 85 students of the school further enhanced the significance of the occasion.

This initiative reflects the Sri Lanka Army’s unwavering commitment to nation-building and its continued efforts to foster stronger bonds between military personnel and local communities through impactful and compassionate civil affairs programmes.
