Under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 56 Infantry Division, Major General S A U A Solangaarachchi RSP ndc psc, an awareness lecture on the privileges and benefits provided by the Army Welfare Directorate was successfully conducted at the 56 Infantry Division Headquarters on 08 January 2026.
The awareness lecture was conducted by Major S M R T Senivirathne Officer Commanding, Army Welfare Shop – Anuradhapura, representing the Army Directorate of Welfare. The primary objective of the programme was to enhance awareness among all ranks on the importance of welfare services and the correct procedures for obtaining available welfare benefits. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring that personnel clearly understand their entitlements and the mechanisms in place to support their personal and family well-being.
The programme was attended by the Commander, 563 Infantry Brigade; Principal Staff Officers of the 56 Infantry Division; Senior Officers of under-command battalions; as well as Senior Non-Commissioned Officers and Non Commissioned Officers from under-command brigades and battalions of the 56 Infantry Division. The session provided comprehensive guidance on welfare privileges, financial assistance schemes, medical support facilities, family welfare services, and the use of the Welfare Directorate e-portal application.
The interactive lecture enabled participants to gain practical knowledge within the military framework and encouraged them to make effective use of the welfare facilities provided by the Army Directorate of Welfare. The programme significantly contributed to strengthening morale, enhancing confidence in welfare systems, and reinforcing the Army’s continued commitment to the well-being of its personnel and their families.
