21 INFANTRY DIVISION STRENGTHENS CIVIL–MILITARY COOPERATION THROUGH SCHOOL SUPPLIES DONATION PROGRAMME AT TANTIRIMALE

Under the guidance of Major General K M P S B Kulathunga RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), and the close supervision of Major General T N K Perera, Commander 21 Infantry Division, a school supplies donation programme was successfully conducted on 04 January 2026 at the premises of Ashoka Junior School, Siyambalagasswewa village, Tantirimale.

The programme was organized for the benefit of the students of Ashoka Junior School, Anuradhapura, belonging to the area of responsibility of 5 Sri Lanka National Guard under 213 Infantry Brigade of the 21 Infantry Division, along with the children of the Siyambalagasswewa Preschool affiliated with the school.

The financial contribution for this worthy social service initiative was generously made by the staff of the Maintenance Section of Colombo Dockyard PLC. Through this programme, each child was provided with school necessities required for the entire year 2026, including books, school bags, shoes, lunch boxes, water bottles and other essential educational items. In addition, several common requirements for both the school and the preschool were also donated.

Furthermore, a children’s playground was established for the benefit of the students, the abandoned school library was renovated, and books were donated to enrich the library. Through this programme, approximately 75 children, including 18 preschool children, received benefits. It is noteworthy that the donor group spent approximately Rs. 1.5 million on this social welfare initiative.

The event was attended by the Civil Affairs Officer of the 21 Infantry Division, the Second-in-Command of 5 SLNG, other officers and soldiers, staff members of the Maintenance Section of Colombo Dockyard PLC, the Principal and teaching staff of the school, preschool teachers, parents, and students.
