NEWLY CONSTRUCTED HOUSE HANDED OVER TO A DESERVING FAMILY

Demonstrating its continued commitment to community welfare and humanitarian service, troops of the 9th Battalion, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, under the guidance of the 222 Infantry Brigade, successfully constructed a new house for a deserving low-income family in Muhathuwaram, Verugal. The newly built home was ceremonially handed over to the beneficiary on 06 April 2026, bringing renewed hope and stability to the family.

This meaningful initiative was made possible through the generous financial contribution of Mr. C. Danesh Ranathunga and his family, whose support played a vital role in transforming the lives of the recipients. The Commander of the 222 Infantry Brigade, together with the Commanding Officer of the 9th Battalion, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, closely supervised and coordinated all efforts, ensuring the successful and timely completion of the project through the dedication and hardwork of the troops.

A simple yet heartfelt house-warming ceremony was held to mark the occasion, attended by members of the donor family, the General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division, the Commander of the 222 Infantry Brigade, the Commanding Officer of the 9th Battalion, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, the Divisional Secretary, and relatives of the beneficiary. The initiative stands as a testament to the Army’s enduring commitment to uplifting communities and fostering goodwill among the people.
