In conjunction with the 78th Independence Day celebrations and to foster goodwill, cooperation and harmonious civil military relations between the Army and the local community, a community cleaning programme was conducted along both sides of the Batticaloa Polonnaruwa (A11) main road in front of the main entrance to the Headquarters of the 23 Infantry Division.
The programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of the General Officer Commanding, Major General GPP Kulatilaka ndc, together with senior officers/officers of the Division Headquarters. The cleaning operation covered an area of approximately 2 Km, contributing to improved environmental cleanliness and public convenience in the vicinity.
A total of 10 x 30 troops from the Division, along with approximately 20 civilians residing in the Punani area, actively participated in the initiative.
