SCHOOL ITEMS DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMME AND PROVIDING OF LUNCH FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN AND TEACHERS

Under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces (East), Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, and under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, Major General G.P.P. Kulatilakandu, a school welfare programme was conducted in coordination with the Commander, 232 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier T.K.D. Dharmasena RWP RSP, under the direction of the Commanding Officer, 12 Sri Lanka National Guard, Major H.M.V.P. Herath SLNG.

The programme, which included the distribution of school items and the provision of lunch for schoolchildren and teachers, was conducted on 30 January 2026 at BT/KK Tharawei Sri Kaleivani School, located in the Kulawadi area. During the event, 24 sets of school items valued at approximately Rs. 156,000.00 were distributed among 24 schoolchildren, and a nutritious lunch was provided to both students and teachers.

The Chief Guest at the occasion was the Commander, 232 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier T.K.D. Dharmasena RWP RSP. The event was also attended by the Civil Affairs Officer, 232 Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel L.G.R.P.K. Wimalasena MI, senior officers, and members of the Butterfly Tourist Company – Polonnaruwa, whose support contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.

Furthermore, four groups comprising 20 Army troops each, along with approximately 30 civilians, participated in the programme, reflecting the Army’s continued commitment to community welfare and social responsibility.
