A programme to distribute books and essential school supplies to students from primary to Advanced Level of Akkaraipattu / Deeghavapiya Maha vidyalaya, which comes under the Akkaraipattu Zonal Education Office, was held on 16 January 2026 at the school premises.
Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (East), participated as the Chief Guest. Major General W.M.N.K.D. Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division; Brigadier R.S.C. Dissanayake RSP, Brigade Commander, 241 Infantry Brigade; Brigadier K.G.A.T Kalakorale RSP, Brigade Commander, 242 Infantry Brigade, along with senior officers, officers and Other Ranks, were also present at the event.
The financial sponsorship for the successful conduct of the programme was generously provided by the Tarana Foundation. Accordingly, essential school books and stationery items were distributed among all students of the school, particularly benefiting children from low-income families who continue to face hardships due to adverse weather conditions. The programme was attended by the teaching staff, parents of the students, and members of the local civil community.
