ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE BRIGADE COMMANDER OF THE 233 INFANTRY BRIGADE

Colonel M.L.L.R. Molligoda USP assumed duties as the 33rd Brigade Commander of the 233 Infantry Brigade Headquarters on 26 December 2025, in accordance with religious observances and traditional customs.

In accordance with military traditions, troops of the 7th Gemunu Watch Battalion paid their respects to him with a Guard Turnout at the 233 Infantry Brigade Headquarters premises, following which all Officers and Other Ranks of the Brigade Headquarters ceremonially welcomed him with due respect.

Further, to commemorate this special occasion, Colonel M.L.L.R. Molligoda USP posed for group photographs with the Commanding Officers and the Staff Officers and Staff of the Infantry Brigade Headquarters, following a tree-planting ceremony, and the Commander addressed the troops.

Subsequently, at the office of the Brigade Commander, Officers of the 233 Infantry Brigade Headquarters briefed the new Brigade Commander on the operational responsibilities and functions of the 233 Infantry Brigade Headquarters. The Commanding Officers, Officers of the Brigade Headquarters, and Other Ranks were presented at this ceremonial occasion.
