20TH BATTALION OF THE GAJABA REGIMENT PROVIDE ASSISTANCE FOR THE KATINA PINKAMA AT THE GIRIHANDUSEYA RAJA MAHA VIHARAYA, THIRIYAI

On the instruction of the General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division and with participation of Commander 221 Infantry Brigade members of the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment contributed to the Katina Pinkama at the Thiriyai Girihanduseya RajamahaViharaya on 18th and 19th October 2025.

This religious program was held on 18th October 2025, as per the instruction of the ViharadhikariChandimathero, where the MahaSanghaRatna was brought a Darma sermon on 18th evening. Further, following day morning and afternoon alms were offered to twenty-three members of the MahaSangha and Atapirikara. The newly constructed "Samadhi" meditation hall which was constructed with the full labour contribution of 20 GR was also handed over to the benefit of monks.

With guidance of Commander 221 Infantry Brigade Col Chandima Beligaswatta RSP, entire event was conducted under the supervision and direction of the Commanding Officer of the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment Lieutenant Colonel Rohana Ekanayake RWP RSP psc GR. The unit provided assistance for cleaning the temple premises, raising the umbrellas for the monks who represented the Katina Pinkama and preparing alms from 18th to 19th October 2025. Furthermore, about 400 participated for this program including local monks and temple devotees.
