In a commendable display of civic responsibility and humanitarian service, the 6th Regiment of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps(Rft), deployed under the 223 Infantry Brigade, successfully organized a blood donation program on 08 July 2025.
The initiative was carried out under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces (East), Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, and was closely supervised by the General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division. This program was part of the broader civil-military cooperation efforts aimed at strengthening ties between the military and the civilian population in the Eastern Province.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from both military personnel and civilians, reflecting a shared commitment to supporting the healthcare needs of the region. The collected blood units are expected to significantly contribute to regional blood bank supplies, aiding patients in urgent need of transfusions.
Such initiatives highlight the Sri Lanka Army’s ongoing dedication to national service beyond security, playing a crucial role in community welfare and emergency preparedness. Members of the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Air Force, and Police personnel also joined the program to donate blood.
