The Commander Security Forces (East), Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, made his maiden visit to the Headquarters of the 23 Infantry Division in Punani on 29 June 2025, following his recent assumption of office.
Upon his arrival, the General Officer Commanding and all officers warmly welcomed Major General Janaka Pallekumbura. In accordance with military traditions, he was honored with a drive-past salute and later posed for a group photograph to commemorate the visit.
As part of the day's events, the Commander was invited to plant a sapling on the premises, symbolizing growth and remembrance. He then delivered an address to the troops, commending their service and encouraging continued excellence.
During the visit, General Officer Commanding provided a comprehensive briefing on the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of the 23 Infantry Division, outlining ongoing operations, administrative functions, and civil-military coordination activities.
To conclude the formalities, Major General Pallekumbura offered his remarks in the visitor’s book.
In addition to his official visit, the Commander Security Forces (East) also participated in the ceremonial handing over of a newly constructed house to a low-income family in the Punani area, reflecting the Army’s ongoing commitment to community welfare.
