According to information received from the Aralaganwila Police Station, troops of the 12th Battalion of the Gamunu Watch successfully rescued four individuals who went missing while hiking in Danigala Kanda.
The information was received at 1200 hrs on 27 May 2025. Acting swiftly, the 12th Battalion launched a rescue mission and successfully located and rescued the four hikers by 1845 hrs on the same day. All individuals were found safe and unharmed.
The rescue team consisted of two officers and eight other ranks, including the Commanding officer of the battalion. The Sri Lanka Police and Special Task Force also collaborated with the army troops to ensure the success of the mission.
