Cornerstone Laid for New House for Needy Family in Trincomalee by 9th Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment

Under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces (East), Major General P. R. Pathiravithana, USAWC psc, and the supervision of the General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division, Under part of civil-military cooperation program, the 9th Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, operating under the 222 Infantry Brigade, laid the foundation stone for a new house for a low-income family residing in Sumedhankarapura, Seruwila, in the Trincomalee District.

The foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the new house for Mr. K.B. Asanka and his family was held at the auspicious time of 9:46 AM on 22nd May 2025, amidst religious observances. The event was conducted in coordination with the Chief Monk of the Seruwila Mangala Rajamaha Viharaya and was financially supported by Mrs. Disna Galappaththi, owner of Panchali Company and a resident of Trincomalee.

The ceremony was attended by the General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division, Major General H.D.L.S. Perera RWP RSP ndc, along with senior officers, officers, other ranks, sponsors, and local civilians.
