WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF 24 INFANTRY DIVISIONS BUDDHANGALA TEMPLE ORGANISES A RELIC EXHIBITION TO COMMEMORATE POSON POYA AND MAHINDAGAMANAYA.

To commemorate the sacred PosonPoya and Mahindagamanaya, Buddhangala Temple in Amparaorganised a relics exhibition from June 21–23, June 2024 at its premises. The event was held under the direction of the District Secretariat Office, and the supervision of Major General WLAC Perera RWP RSP USP, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 24 Infantry Division. The event was made even more special with the participation of soldiers under the command of the 24 Infantry Division, including the 241 Infantry Brigade, 18 VIR, and 16 SLNG. On June 22nd, GOC Major General WLAC Perera RWP RSP USP personally deposited the relics at a special forum for the exhibition, marking a significant moment in this sacred celebration. The relic’s exhibition was a significant event that commemorated not only the Poson Poya but also the historic Mahindagamanaya, which marked the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

The exhibition featured a range of relics and artifacts that showcased the rich cultural heritage of Buddhism in the country. The participation of soldiers from the 24 Infantry Division added a unique dimension to the event, highlighting the strong bond between the military and the Buddhist community. Overall, the exhibition of the relics at Buddhangala Temple was a memorable event that celebrated the rich cultural heritage of Buddhism in Sri Lanka while promoting unity and harmony among all participants.

To make the event more pleasurable for the Buddhist monks who attended the exhibition almsgiving was offered, and a cool drink dansala was arranged for the devotees and pilgrims, offering them a refreshing respite from the heat.
