GOC 24 INFANTRY DIVISION ADDRESSED MUSLIM COMMITTEE IN KATTANKUDY

The General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division, Major General WLAC Perera RWP RSP USP paid a courtesy visit to the Federation of Kattankudy mosques and Muslim Institutions on 05 June 2024. GOC was warmly welcomed by the secretary of the committee, MMM Ilham Falahi - Mavulavi.

Secretary of the committee gave a brief introduction of the committee and the role they play for society in the Kattankudy area. During the briefing, they highlighted the main problems that occur in the area, such as drug trafficking and smuggling.

The GOC emphasized the value of living in peace and harmony in the country to the Muslim committee and highlighted that all nationalities should live as one community. Adding to the memory for the day, GOC posed for a photograph with the Muslim committee and the committee offered a plaque. Before his departure, General Officer Commanding left a couple of thoughts and compliments in the Muslim Committee’s Visitors’ book.

Later on, GOC visited the Al Aqsa mosque in Kattankudy and was received by Mr. KLM Fareed (Chairman). During the visit to the mosque, they did not forget to bless all the participating officials, including the General Officer Commanding. GOC discussed the development of reconciliation in Muslim-civilized areas.

The occasion was gathered by the General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division, Colonel General Staff, CAO - 243 Inf Bde, CO - 11 (V) SLSR and officials and members of the federation.
