The headquarters of the 23 Infantry Division hosted a blood donation program with the participation of the under-command Brigade and Battalions, along with invaluable assistance from the Blood Transfusion Center of Batticaloa College of Nursing. The event, held on 22 May 2024, saw an impressive turnout of military personnel, underscoring the division's commitment to serving not only in its traditional role but also in the humanitarian arena. The blood donation programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 6 officers and 86 soldiers of the 23 Infantry Division.
The initiative was led under the guidance and supervision of Major General WP Kariyawasam, the esteemed General Officer Commanding of the 23 Infantry Division. His leadership, along with the support of the 23 Infantry Divisional staff, was instrumental in ensuring the event's success. The involvement of civilians alongside military personnel highlighted the inclusive nature of the event, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie within the community. Such initiatives not only help address the critical need for blood donations but also strengthen the bond between the 23 Infantry Division and the civilian population.
