In order to empower the future generation through knowledge and education, the 24 Infantry Division conducted a community related project to distribute essential school items among the underprivileged school children in Bakmitiyawa area.
Under the guidance of the GOC 24 Infantry Division, Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, the staff of the 24 Infantry Division contributed and coordinated the donation of stationary and other essential school items worth of Rs 400,000.00 distributed among 129 students of Bakmitiyawa Vidyalaya. This generous gesture was sponsored by the Hemas Manufacturing (Pvt) Ltd with the coordination of Mr. TM Jayarathna - Operations Manager Sales, Hemas Manufacturing (Pvt) Ltd) and his staff.
The GOC of the 24 Infantry Division, Major General W. Chandrasiri, RSP USP psc, graced the occasion as chief guest. Mr. TM Jayarathna Operations Manager Sales, Hemas Manufacturing (Pvt) Ltd, and his staff, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks serving in the area participated for this noble event conducted on 20 February 2024.
During the programme, essential school equipment was distributed among students from Grade 1 to 11of the Bakmitiyawa Vidyalaya. The event concluded with a tea party arranged forall the participants of the event.
