CDS GENERAL SHAVENDRA SILVA ADDRESS THE TRI FORCES TROOPS OF SECURITY FORCES EAST

General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) with the objective of reminding and updating the Army, Navy and Air Force personnel in the Security Forces East area of their role and professional conduct, visited the Security Forces East area on 28 January 2024. The Commander of the Security Forces Headquarters (East), Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG extended a warm welcome to the CDS upon his arrival.Respecting the military traditions and troops of Sri Lanka Air Force Academy (China bay) ceremonially received the senior most serving officer in the tri-services at the Air Force Academy, Trincomalee.

The Commander of the Security Forces Headquarters (East) commenced the proceedings of the troop address with a brief yet comprehensive introduction about the CDS to the tri forces personnel at the venue.

Addressing the troops, General Shavendra Silva made it an occasion to extend his best wishes for the New Year and appreciated all Officers and Other Ranks who attended all past missions including the Wanni Humanitarian Operation that were present in the audience.Further, he appreciated all Officers and Other Ranks for their continued service render to maintain the hardly earned peace and harmony in the East whilst assisting the general public whenever needed.

General Shavendra Silva emphasized that the professionalism of the military personalities, has been duly recognized and respected by the majority of general public. Therefore, he stressed that it was of a paramount importance to ensure that all tri forces personnel maintained the highest possible standards of Professionalism discipline, conduct and behavior at all times.

He further highlighted and urged the leaders at different levels to frequently educate their subordinates about the challenges of the current operational environment and continuously guide them as and when required to do so.

On completion of the troop address, a memento exchange took place between the Security Force Commander East and the Chief of Defence Staff.

During the visit, General Shavendra Silva interacted with the troops where he inquired the needs of the officers and other ranks.
