Considering the nutrients requirement of pregnant mothers from low-income families, the 243 Infantry Brigade distributed nutrients dry ration packs among 100 Tamil pregnant mothers residing in Batticaloa district, Kokkadichcholai area on Friday (20 Oct) at the Kokkadichcholai cultural center.
Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, the Commander, Security Forces - East figured out the basic needs and launched this programme with his conceptual guidance. The event was organized under the supervision of Major General Wipula Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division. The event was successfully conducted by the Brigadier AMC Kumarasinghe, the Commander, 243 Infantry Brigade with the support by Major DMN Pathmasiri, Commanding Officer, 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and his troops.
Approximately Rs.750, 000 worth of this worthy course was sponsored by Rev. Ebenazer Joseph, Bishop of the Methodist Church Sri Lanka, Former Secretary General National Christian Council and Secretary General of Interfaith Coalition for Peace on the request of the Commander, Security Forces - East. Cultural dances performed by Ambalanthurei Kaleimagal Vidyalaya and Arasadithiv Vigneshwaram Vidyalaya students enhance the glamour of the event. In that, the dance performed by Ambalanthurei Kaleimagal Vidyalaya students in traditional Kandian costumes replicates the true reconciliation and unity of all nations in this area. Moreover, the pregnant mothers were provided the snack packs and lunch.

Ebenazer Joseph, Bishop of the Methodist Church Sri Lanka as guest of honour. Major General Wipula Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, Brigadier AMC Kumarasinghe, the Commander, 243 Infantry Brigade, Staff Officers of Security Force Headquarters (East), Senior Officers, Officers, Commanding Officer, and troops of 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment took part of the event. In addition to this, Additional DS - Divisional Secretary Office, Kokkadichcholai, Mrs. M Kuvi Kumar, MOH, Kokkadichcholai, Dr. K Ramesh, and Other invitees also participated to the event.
