The Sri Lankan nation has seen its fair share of heroes and patriots who have left an indelible mark on the history of the island. One such remarkable figure is the late Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa, whose contributions to the nation's defense and unwavering commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty have made him a revered and cherished figure. To commemorate his 31st death anniversary, a religious programme has been performed on 08 August 2023 at the headquarters of the 24 Infantry Division, serving as a poignant reminder of his sacrifices and dedication.
The legendary war hero laid his life with nine Officers and Other Ranks in an LTTE landmine while traveling across Araly Point in Jaffna on 8 August 1992. Performing a religious programme to commemorate the late Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa is a heartfelt gesture that honors his memory and seeks blessings for his eternal journey.
This religious programme was organized under the instruction and guidance of Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, the General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division with the participation of more than 200 troops including Officers and Other ranks.
