Troops of 4th Battalion Gemunu Watch & 11th (Volunteer) Battalion of Singha Regiment Conducted a Dengue Prevention Program

Following the Instructions given by the Directorate of Operations and under the supervision of General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, Major General SA Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, In order to support the Dengue prevention program launch by the Government to control the rapidly spreading dengue diseases in the country, troops of 231 Inf Bde under 23 Infantry Divisional Punani conducted a Dengue Prevention Program.

Troops of 4th Battalion Gemunu Watch & 11th (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Singha Regiment in coordination with Batticaloa office of the Medical Officer of Health (MOH), carried out the Dengue eradication programming Batticaloa Town and Manmunai Town on 16 May 2023.

1 x 24 troops of 4th Battalion Gemunu Watch and 11 troops of 11th (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Singha Regiment,2 Public Health Inspectors at MOH Batticaloa and Manmunai,6 Police officers of Batticaloa Police Station and 4 Police officers of Manmunai Police Station more than 55 local community members, joined hands together to make the programme a success.

During this programme, Places were inspected for possible mosquito breeding locations and people around the same time were advised to keep their gardens clean and tidy. 10 red notices were issued during the program.
