The Commander, Security Forces (East), Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi on 19th and 20th March 2023, paid his formal field visits to the 24 Infantry Division and its Infantry Brigades,Battalions which are under command to 24 Infantry Division.
The visiting Commander arrived at the Headquarters 18 Battalion of Vijayabaahu Infantry Regiment on Sunday (March 19). General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, Major General Wipula Chandrasiri, Brigade Commander, 241 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Dhanika Pathirathna, and Commanding Officer, 18 Vijayabaahu Infantry Regiment, Major Uditha Kaluaarachchi warmly welcomed the Commander, Security Forces (East) to the 24 Infantry Division area. Subsequently, the Commander visited 241 Infantry Brigade, 8 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, 242 Infantry Brigade, and 23 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment accordingly, and the Commander visited the Muhudumaha Viharaya as customary. Further, the Commander terminated the first day of his visit while attending an interactive session with high-ranking government officers who served in the Ampara district.
Furthermore, starting the second day of his visit on Monday (March 20), the Commander, Security Forces (East) made a visit to Deegawaapi Temple to observe the construction project of Stupa and later he arrived at 11 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard and thereafter he visited 16 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard and terminated the visit. To symbolize the visit the Commander, Security Forces (East) planted a sapling and made complimentary notes and good wishes in the Visitors' Book at each Headquarters as customary. Brigade Commander, 242 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Anuradha Solangaarachchi, and staff officers of 24 Infantry Division also attended the visit.
