Under the guidance of Commander Security Forces (East), Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, the General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division, Brigadier Wipula Chandrasiri designed to educate and organize awareness programme for the troops of the Security Force (East) area about the ''Prevention Illicit Drug Usage in the Army'' under repercussions of using drugs, narcotics, and illicit substances.
The programme was conducted by the Sri Lanka Army Mental Health Unit headed, by Senior Consultant Psychiatrist Brigadier Roshan Monaragala and a team of his staff on Thursday (January 25) at the conference hall of 24 Infantry Division Headquarters, Malwatta, Ampara.
The lecture about the ''Prevention Illicit Drugs" is presently a much-needed topic in the troops of Security Forces (East) area to educate about how to prevent themselves from the illicit substance and what kind of drugs are used and transported by the civilians in the area. Representing troops of 241, 242 infantry Brigades and it's under command Battalions with the staff of 24 Infantry Division. 14 Officers including the General Officer Commanding the 24 Infantry Division, Brigadier Wipula Chandrasiri, and 160 Other Ranks participated in the awareness programme.
This impressive and timely needed awareness programme gives strong messages for the soldiers to refrain from illicit drug use as a soldier.
