CHAMPION OF SOFTBALL CRICKET TOURNEMANT IN THE EASTERN GAMES IN 2022 CELEBRATES BY 23 INFANTRY DIVISION

With a concept and directions of Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi and close supervision of the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area Headquarters - East Major General Chanaka Mettananda and Final matches of Security Forces - East Inter Division Cricket tournaments was held in the “Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment Training School” playground at Minneriya, On 14 December 2022. The tournament was successfully concluded with 23 Division team emerging as the champions.

The annual Inter Division cricket tournament is a much looked forward to event in the sports calendar of Security Force - East. Officers and soldiers both participate in the tournament with hyped up enthusiasm as it enhances comradeship, determination, courage and discipline among all participants as well as spectators.

After a close encounter between 22 and 23 Infantry Division teams in the final match, 23 Infantry Division team recorded an outright win over, 22 Infantry Division which became the Runners up of Inter Division Cricket Tournament of Eastern games 2022. A display of 7 Sri Lanka Artillery “Cultural dancing” group and a display of Western Band of the Sri Lanka Rifle Corps, witnessed by a large gathering of Cricket fans and distinguished guests delighting the event a more glamorous, colorful and cheerful one.

The trophies and certificate awarding and closing ceremony was graced by Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi with the invited of Commander, Forward Maintenance Area Headquarters - East, Major General Chanaka Mettananda, General Officer Commanding ,22 Infantry Division, Major General Saliya Amunugama ,General Officer Commanding ,23 Infantry Division, Major General Shewanth Kulathunge, General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Major General Wajira Welageda , all Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers and distinguished invitees graced the occasion. Towards the end of the awarding ceremony all Senior Officers, Officers and the winning teams stood for a group photo.
