THE NEW SECURITY FORCES (EAST) COMMANDER BEGINS DUTIES

Major General S R K Hetiarachchi RWP RSP USP ndu psc of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry assumed duties as the new Commander of the Security Forces - East, with the religious blessings at Security Forces Headquarters - East premises on Monday (14).

The newly appointed Commander of the Security Forces - East was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers. Guard Turnout at the entrances and a Guard of Honors parade in the parade square at Security Forces Headquarters - East, honored the Commander Security Forces - East. Later on a religious ceremony was conducted by members of the Maha Sangha at his office invoked blessings on the new appointment. A Special Pirith Chanting session blessed the new Commander of Security Forces - East as he symbolically initialed an official document to signify acceptance of the new appointment. After that tree planting of a sapling, he posed for a group photo at the Security Forces Headquarters - East, compound as a symbol of memory.

Furthermore, an all rank tea and the formal address to the Officers and Other Ranks culminated the day’s proceedings. General Officers Commandings of 22, 23 and 24 Infantry Divisions, Infantry Brigade Commanders, Brigadier Administration & Quartering of SFHQ (East), Senior Staff Officers, Staff Officers of Security Forces Headquarters - East, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks participated in the occasion.
