One of Non Commission Officer who belongs to the 2nd Regiment of Sri Lanka military Corp Name is S/679265 Corporal Nanayakkara NEDP was on duty for the security of the “Aukana Anuru” Buddha statue and “Shailamaya” Buddha statue located in front of Headquarters 2nd Regiment of Sri Lanka military Corp. A traveling bag was found by a devotee who had come to perform the pilgrimage and he handed it over to the Headquarters 2nd Regiment of Sri Lanka Military Corp at Girithale, on 13 November 2022.
After that, as per the instructions of the, Commanding Officer of 2nd Regiment of Sri Lanka Military Corp, Major N P E N Nerangama USP lsc, checked the bag and found in it foreign currency notes worth more than Rs: 700,000.00 (Seven Lakh Rupees), a "Canon" type camera worth about Rs: 300,000.00 (Three Lakh Rupees), a passport, a phone charger and 11 foreign bank cards were found in the bag and later it was confirmed that it belonged to a foreign woman named “Kayo Chumbi Jacqueline Slinda” from "Peru" who came for a visit to Sri Lanka.
Later, the foreign woman was contacted on the phone and she came to the Headquarters 2nd Regiment of Sri Lanka Military Corp at Girithale, and arrangements were made to hand over the money and other belongings to her properly and to return the valuables and money with the passport to her, then she highly praised about the Sri Lanka Army. This Non Commission Officer was “highly appreciated” and Bringing great pride to the 2nd Sri Lanka Corp of Military Police, Sri Lanka Army and "Mother Sri Lanka” by acting as an example to everyone as a “disciplined soldier” in the society.
