“MANMUNE” PLAYGROUND WAS OPENED BY THE COMMANDER OF THE “SECURITY FORCES EAST"

"Pavadikochachivenai" area belonging to, "Manmune” West Divisional Secretariat in the “Batticaloa” administrative district in the eastern part of the island is a “very difficult” area where “Muslims and Tamils” live in abundance. A large number of “low-income” families live there and the army troops intervenes in this area to provide various humanitarian aid and infrastructural facilities to improve their people's lives through various Civil affairs programme.

Therefore, 460 school students are studying in the “Vinayanagar” School, and which is belonging to, "Manmune” West Divisional Secretariat in the “Batticaloa". Students who belong to the “Vinayanagar” school though the Principal of Vinayanagar School a written request was made that the school does not have a school playground and that a playground be prepared, from the Commander, Security Force - East, Major General Priyantha Jayavaradena, After that Senior Officers of Security Force Headquarters - East in coordination with the District Secretary of Batticaloa, and provided the 1.75 Acres of land “Manmune” area to make a ground, then after, Commander Security Force - East planned to prepare a proper playground for the School.

After preparing the basic plan, with the 7th Field Sri Lanka Engineers and the 3rd Corps of Engineer Services Construction planned Estimated to get financial assistance for the preparation of this Project of playground, and for that, the Commander, put a lot of effort into preparing the playground for Re 6025000/= (Sixty Lacks Twenty Five Thousand Rupees) after obtaining the agreement to get the full sponsorship by the “Non-Governmental Organization" “CTHA” (Canadian Tamil Humanitarian & Association) and Engineering Support by 7th Field Sri Lanka Engineers with the labor contribution of Security Forces - East troops ,With Under the guidelines of Commander of the Army, construction work was initiated under the supervision of Commander, Security Force - East on 09 July 2022.

Furthermore, with the guidance and blessings of the Commander of the Army and Commander, Security Forces - East, with the hard work and tireless courage of the Sri Lanka Army troops, a spectacular playground was built within 65 days, the Commander, Security Forces - East, General Officer Commander, 23 Infantry Division and Commander, 231 Infantry Brigade visited this valuable community care Project from time to time and gave “Necessary Instructions”. Also, all the coordination were constantly handled by the Chief Coordination Civil affairs Officer and Civil affairs Officer of the Security Forces Headquarters - East, Commanding Officer, 4th Battalion Gemunu Watch Regiment. With the contribution and assistance of sponsoring organization.

The playground was opened at 1030 am on 11 November, for the use of the students of Ba/ Man “Vinayagaran” School to Grace the occasion as the Chief Guest Commander, Security Forces – East, Major General Priyantha Jayawadena and General Officer Commander 23 Infantry Division, Major General Shewanth Kulathunga, Major General (Retied) Ruwan wanigasuriya, (member of “CTHA” ) with members of donor agency, Commander, 231 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Dilupa Bandara,”, Zonal Educational assistance Directors of Batticaloa District , the Principal of Vinayanagar School, Mr. V Pushpaharan with the participation of Senior Officers, Commanding Officers ,Other Officers, Other Ranks and teachers, students of the school, parents as well as peoples of Villages in around and also, students of the school special thanked to the all senior officers, officers with troops of the army and the representative of the donor agency for preparing this playground.

After the construction of this valuable playground, the Sri Lankan Army intervened to fulfill the need of a playground for various festivals in the area to improve their sports skills for school students studying in the school as well as “young People” living in the area. By carrying out this contraction, it will “always be remembered” in the “hearts” of the brotherly people living in the East area. It was a successfully completed one of community care program carried out by troop of the Security Forces – East.
