“DIMBULAGALA STUDENTS” GOT FREE SCHOOL SHOES THROUGH THE ARMY INITIATIVE

The 9th Sri Lanka Artillery troops of the 233 Infantry Brigade under the 23 Infantry Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East, extending the Army's helping hand towards deserving students gifted 60 pairs of school shoes to students in schools under the “Dimbulagala Educational Zone” once again after inviting the beneficiaries to the office premises of the Zonal Education office at Dimbulagala on Wednesday (2).

Under the guidelines of the Commander Security Forces – East, Major General Priyantha Jayawardena and the distribution, organized on the instructions of General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division as one more addition to the same project that continued in the past was sponsored by “Ceylon Leather Products PLC (pvt) Limited” through the coordination of Major General (Retd) Channa Goonatillake. The same sponsor, to this date has provided 5761 pairs of school shoes to students in the same Educational Zone under several phases of the project.

Furthermore, the distribution got underway in the presence of General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, Major General Shewanth Kulathunga as the Chief Guest, Mrs Chandimala Wasalamudali, Zonal Educational Directors, Brigadier Wasantha Hewage, Commander 233 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Priyantha Malawarage, Commander, 232 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer, 9th Sri Lanka Artillery, Lieutenant Colonel , Dinesh Wanigasekara, Principals, teachers, parents, Officers and Other Ranks were attended to the ceremonies.
