To coincide with the 72nd Army anniversary, the Security Force Headquarters (East) launched a coconut tree-planting campaign in the Army farm Kandakadu on Friday (08) with the participation of hundreds of troops.
Commander Security Forces (East), Major General Channa Weerasuriya inaugurated the programme after planting a coconut sapling in the farm premises.
In total, 2000 coconut saplings were planted inside the farm and this was the first time such a large number of coconut saplings were planted in the farm premises.
General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, Major General Nalin Koswatta, Commander Forward Maintenance Area-East, Major General Mahesh Abeyrathna, Brigadier General Staff of SFHQ-(E), Brigadier Sujeewa Jayasinghe, Brigadier Admin & Quartering of SFHQ-(E), Brigadier Jagath Weerakoon, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also attended the occasions.
