Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Commander Security Force - East visited the 22 Infantry Division and under command 221, 222 and 223 Infantry Brigades on 19 and 20 August 2021.
Commander, Security Force (East) first arrived at the Headquarters 222 Infantry Brigade, Jayanthigama, Kanthale where the visiting Commander was accorded a ‘Drive Pass’ salute around the main entrance. Addressing the troops, the Commander SF-E specially highlighted the importance of maintaining the highest standards of discipline at all levels and urged them to stick to the health guidelines in the present pandemic situation in the country.
The Commander SF-E afterwards, visited the Headquarters 223 Infantry Brigade, Kattaparichchan where he was received by the Brigade Commander, Colonel Ravindra Jayasinghe. During the troops address, the Commander SF-E enlightened the troops on the aforesaid aspects.
On the following day, the Commander Security Force (East) had a courtesy call with the District Secretary (DS) Trincomalee Mr Saman Darshana Pandikorala at the District Secretariat Trincomalee and had cordial discussions insisting the need to have an effective communication among government authorities and Security Forces to accomplish the desired objectives of the Nation. Later on, the Commander visited the proposed Headquarters premises of 221 Brigade, Kumburupiddi and observed the ongoing constructions.
Meanwhile, Major General Channa Weerasuriya inspected the proposed burial site of Covid-19 victims.
Major General Sanath Aluvihare, General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division also accompanied the Commander SF-E during the visit.
