Intending to uplift the economic standards of the retired/ to be retired women soldiers of 5(V) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and their families through agro-based self-employment ventures, an initiative was launched by Retired Service Personnel Welfare Project – Agriculture of Ministry of Defence in partnership with Security Force Headquarters (East) on Monday (25) to provide with bee colony boxes.
The brief ceremony was held at the 5(V) SLAWC Battalion Headquarters premises, Dalukana with the presence of Secretary – State Ministry of Defence, Mr. Sunil Samaraweera as the Chief Guest.
The project was aimed at providing with an additional source of income to supplement the retirement benefits of these women soldiers and thereby acquire their contribution to the agro-economic development of the country.
